If you have an Ubuntu CD, you can partition your hard drive to share Windows XP and Ubuntu with a dual boot option. All this crap means when you turn on your computer, you get 30 seconds to decide whether you want to load windows or load ubuntu. Dual boot either automatically writes to the MBR or there is an option for it when you install it. _________________

If you only want to try it out to see whether everything is compatible and whether you like it, you can install INSIDE a Windows partition using Wubi. http://wubi-installer.org/If you don't like it or it doesn't function correctly you can uninstall it from Windows in just a few clicks. If you DO like and wish to install it permanently, I'll give you further instruction.

Chin just put the ubuntu cd in your comp and NEVER delete windows. When you get to the part where you decide where you want ubuntu, put it on the same hard drive and slide the slider thing until you decide it's enough space for Ubuntu. I think it should be blue for windows and orange for ubuntu ( ============/ ======) _________________

I had the problem with ubuntu not working with my wireless card and connecting to the internet so I had to directly plug in the network cable so the drivers could download. _________________
