| i wanna jailbreak my iPod touch (2G), i found all the sites and stuff so i dont really need help with that, but i was wondering if any of you have jailbroken your itouches before, and if you could answer the following questions:
- do you HAVE to have iTunes to jailbreak it - once you jailbreak it, can you edit files on it like a hard drive (for example, can i simply plug it in with a USB and add/remove files, or do i HAVE to use iTunes still even after i jailbroke it). - is it really worth jailbreaking (are the 3rd party applications of good quality/free?) - also, any information about 3rd party apps, such as some good ones, the limitations of them, or how to get them, would be nice.

| You NEED to have a first gen iPod touch to jail break it.
Third party apps are all shit that don't work.

| actually if you google around you'll see that the iPhone dev team released software called Quickpwn that allows 2G's to be jailbroken, which is why i made this whole thread | |

| My friend jailbreaks both 1g and 2g. He has probably done maybe 15. All of the apps are pretty good quality. Um, yeah it's basically exact same as itunes store except free. In other words same quality as iTunes store. Though, jailbreaking may cause your computer crash if you have vista. Make sure all your songs are saved on your computer somewhere or else they will all be deleted forever and same thing with photos.
Hope this helped some.
Bye. | |

| my biggest problem is iTunes, since i cant put it on my flashdrive. the_one does your friend use iTunes to jailbreak iPods?
also mario you can fix it if it messes up, but once you jailbreak it im pretty sure youre not supposed to update the firmware unless its a jailbroken version.

| No, you don't use iTunes. The are quite a few different ways to jailbreak it. The most reliable app is redsno. There are some others. But my friend just installs redsno into a lot of our friends' iPod's. | |
