This mans father is my fathers son.

this man = person we are trying to place
me = speaker
my father = speakers father
my father = this mans father

this mans father is my fathers son.
me and this man are equals both decedents of my father.

So to have them both be from the same father but not be brothers he has to be a step brother.
For him to be me's son it would have to say This mans father is my fathers son's. Their would have to be possession in this sentence, but their isn't so they are equals.

first, thats not a step-brother thats a half brother. step brother is of no actualy genetic relation, half brother is. second, assume that when he says "brothers and sisters i have none", that he means any kind of brothers and sisters, step, half, in-law, whatever, he doesnt have any, he's an only child. it's a riddle, not a bogus trick question. the logic puzzle is created by the speaker's use of third person., referring to himself as "this man's father, my father's son". so that means that this man's father and my father's son is one and the same. oh and that possessive thing made no sense, what does "this man's father is my father's son's" mean? my father's son's what?

Ok, this next riddle is a bit tricky. This is how it works, each number (My # is...) is a clue to that syllable, some time it represents two syllables.
Example:

My first is the first part of the word Mill.
My second is the 10th letter in the alphabet.
My all is a drink, what am I?

The answer is Milk.

Imagine your telling another person the riddle. If you are then for this man to be your son it would have to say he is my father son's. by saying my father son's your saying that your father's son had this kid, by saying This mans father is my fathers son you said he is he son of your father but not the speakers.
